Privacy Policy

RaDaR ("the App") is a rainfall monitoring application developed and operated by Silicon Solutions. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

1. Who Uses This App

RaDaR is used by members of the public — including farmers and other agricultural community members — who voluntarily record local rainfall and weather observations for their area. Users are not employees of Silicon Solutions; they are independent contributors to the rainfall monitoring network.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information in order to operate the App:

• Mobile number — used as your login identity and to contact you if needed
• PIN — used to secure your login; stored in encrypted (hashed) form, never in plain text
• Biometric login (optional) — if you enable fingerprint/face unlock, authentication happens on your device using Android's own biometric system; RaDaR never receives or stores your biometric data
• Name and email address (optional) — if you choose to provide them in your profile
• Profile photo (optional) — if you choose to upload one
• Location data — only when you choose to use the "Sync from Mobile" feature to record your address coordinates; we do not track your location in the background
• Weather and rainfall observations — the measurements you submit (rainfall, temperature, humidity, and related notes), along with the date and station they are associated with
• Device push notification token — used to deliver notifications to your device via Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google service)

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used only to:

• Operate your account and verify your identity when you log in
• Record and display the weather observations you submit
• Send you notifications relevant to the App (such as announcements or alerts)
• Allow authorized administrators to manage the rainfall monitoring network (see Section 4)

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who Can Access Your Information

• You can view and edit your own profile and submitted data within the App at any time.
• Authorized administrators of Silicon Solutions can access user accounts and submitted data through a separate web-based administration system, for the purpose of managing the rainfall monitoring network, verifying data accuracy, and providing user support. Administrators may also import historical rainfall records on a user's behalf (for example, from paper logs) — such records are clearly marked "Historical" and are never presented as though the user personally submitted them through the App.
• We do not share your personal information with any other third party, except as described in Section 5 below.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging, a service provided by Google, to deliver push notifications to your device. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy. No other third-party services have access to your personal information.

6. Data Storage and Security

All data you provide is stored on servers operated by Silicon Solutions. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including secure password/PIN storage, access controls limiting who can view or modify data, and encrypted network connections (HTTPS).

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and submitted observations for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to maintain the historical accuracy of the rainfall monitoring record. You may request deletion of your account and personal information at any time (see Section 9).

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction).

9. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

• Update your profile information at any time within the App
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
